Ah...I am still wondering :)

my mental faculties are demanding rest after 2 yrs of intense exploitation !

As such I try to use single meaning text only coz a few of my 'elders' also visit here occassionally ! :)

Hi Sodi,
this is in response to your question...why did i use 'christened' instead of 'named'?

Well, technically 'christening' is a ceremony done by the christians, for naming a baby towards baptism or the baby's admission into the church.
The word emerged from Christ himself and can also mean 'to make christian'.
That means, a baby is 'christened' for baptism and is taken into the church...i.e made a Christian.

Informally, th term can be used for soemthing that is gonna happen for the first time.

Hope, You got my drift. i have tried my best to tell what ever I knew.

I'm impressed with your inquisitivity. Thats cute, specialy when it comes from guy to a girl.

And btw, i have a query myself....why is your blog name, "sodium hydro phospahte" ?
Obssessed with chemistry ?

Thnx for dropping by.
And take care.

Cinderella thanks for your reply to my query.

Sometime back I wrote on this on my blog in the post 'Mera US...err Bharat Mahan !!!'
http://doodling-thoughts.blogspot.com/2007/08/mera-userr-bharat-mahan.html

The last para goes like this:
"And then look at the extent to which we go copying ------- It sounds urbane. Hats off to ya pal ! I bow to us INDIANS. India is great."

Well, that's what I felt about it. But I got a new point from you, that it might also refer to something that is happening for the first time. This justifies it's use at some such places. I went through your post again to see if that usage would fit there and I still feel 'named' should be a better choice.

What say ?

@ Cinderella and Anonymous,

Regarding your query, na I am not obsessed with chemistry. Never was. I liked physics. And my latest love is reading and writing about everything under the sun...still learning lol

Well..sodium hydro phosphate just came out spontaneously. I spoke it aloud to myself and it sounded cute and somehow suited me. Now sodium has become my nick name everywhere. Frnds of my sis call me sodium bhaiyya and my own college frnds call me sodium :)

And when I think of it, PERHAPS, it's sometimes a refreshing escape from my original self. I started building sodium when I was very mature and I am building it devoid of all the mess that my original self has.

Guess i will have to read your post to get your drift...but form what it looks like now,
do you have anything against good english as to being synonymous with a extravagant show-off of us being less Indian and more American...???

Good logic for justifying your name down there..lol..!!!
And yeah it is very much different...

BtW it was a pleasure to ave you at my page. Hope to see you again.

Take care.
And yeah, I'll read that post and get back to you.

*cheers*

:) That's the first and obvious idea one wd form of me after reading such remarks of mine. So, in fact, I was expecting such a comment.

I am deeply in love with the language, any language. I marvel at the genius of those who made it for the first time. And since I have come across two languages, Hindi and English, I have worked on only those and have good understanding of the nuances involved and am always looking for new things to learn about them. That inquisitiveness impels me to ask ppl questions about their usage and choice of words. And learning about ppl's choice gives rich insights into human psychology and philosophy. I can sometimes make a very close guess about the person's kind by looking at his choice of words. All this adds to my personal thesis on human behavior.

All in all, the bottom line is that it has nothing to do with me being some kind of snob or having any grudge against a particular group of ppl. But yeah, it takes all my will power to keep my mouth shut when I see two typical UPites (born and brought up in a typical town of UP) talking to each other in english, not for the love of the language but because to most half headed dumbs it sounds urbane ! lolz

OK...lol !!!!!!
Tha was real funny..now I know whatcha talkin' about.
It really becomes irksome when people feel ashamed of speaking their mother-tongue cz of some retarded logic, some numb-skull gave them. Have come across many, and at time I have even blurted out how I feel (if I know the person that is).

I was surprised to know about about your personal thesis on human behaiviour. Sounded offbeat !!!

So, what does your anaylysis tell you about this nerd, eh ?

p.s : The above comment was full of stupid typos, so had to delete it. So dont get any ideas that I might have said something outta the track...ok ?
Take care.
